Noonie Minogue is a London based writer, musician and artist. She was an English literature scholar at Newnham College Cambridge, played cello in the university orchestra and was president of the Classical Guitar Society. She also studied Ancient Greek and Latin both at Cambridge and later at Birkbeck College London University. In 1980 Noonie spent nine months in Greece where she danced at all the paniyiria, heard Rebetiko for the first time and learnt Modern Greek. She has studied the language, literature and music ever since. In 2014 she gave a pre-concert talk on Sotiria Bellou and the women singers of Rebetiko, as part of the London Rebetiko Festival.
